Last Sunday we had our annual Allred Family Christmas party. My mom goes to so much trouble each year to make sure it is a success, and this year was no exception. We started off with a delicious dinner. Then the kids decorated cute reindeer cupcakes. They were messy, but cute. Then we decorated sweat pants with puff paint and fabric markers. David could not get enough paint. It was a royal mess. John was more concerned with the markers and coloring every surface in sight.
| Here's David decorating his pants. He was making huge globs of paint and loving every minute. |
Later that evening we had some very special visitors...Santa and Mrs. Claus! Then kids were so excited. John ran right up to him and gave him a hug around the legs. We each got a turn to sit Santa's lap and tell him what we want for Christmas. Alaina was first, and she told Santa she wants a new phone. Then was John's turn and he had a real "Christmas Story" moment. He was so wrapped up in the moment that when Santa asked him what he wants for Christmas he yelled, "A phone!" (He really wants a Woody cowboy doll.) It reminded us of how Ralphie froze up and told Santa he wanted a football. The kids had so much fun. Later that night Ellie said, "I loved our party..." in a wistful voice.
