Santa Party

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is our Allred Family Santa party.  We had an awesome time again this year!

Some highlights for me were:

  • The white elephant gift exchange game.   This was the 1st year that we’ve tried white elephants with the kids.  I’m not sure they grasped the concept, but it was still fun.  My kids scored and got some cool gifts including 2 dinosaurs (or “dinosaurns” if you’re David and John) and some feather masks.
  • The talent show.  Ellie did some spectacular tumbling, and David showed us his best trick. (see below)  John just pounded a dinosaur on the ground and yelled “dinosaur, dinosaur, dinosaur!” Crazy kid.  Eric’s did his party trick with a toothpick.  He has a huge mouth.
  • Santa, of course!  The kids were so excited when Santa showed up.  We sang a couple of songs and he passed out gifts, and posed for pictures.  My favorite part was that he gave my nephew Jeremy a hard time about his smelly feet, and quizzed him on the names of the reindeer for $5…which Jeremy got wrong!  It was so funny.  I’m glad Jeremy was a good sport.

David’s best trick: balancing on one leg and putting his arms out.  (the tongue thing is involuntary…)

Crazy, big mouth.  That toothpick has room to spare.

Here are the kids with Santa.  David and John had a “deer in the headlights” thing going when they had their turns.  Neither are scared of him, but they were both a little off. I think David was feeling shy, and John was anxious to open his gift.  Both were hilarious.

Such a fun party.  I can’t wait for next year!
